Greene County High School teacher Teresa Green is the recipient of the January Extraordinary Citizen award presented by Home State Bank.
Green was nominated by Abby McConnell. McConnell wrote, “Teresa is always willing to help you become the best person you can be and provide you with the most opportunities possible. She is patient, kind, and always putting others first. Through all her involvement she truly shows what it means to provide a positive impact in this community and in individual’s lives. Teresa is a true role model and a blessing to have in our community and school district.”
Over the years, Green has impacted the lives of many students in the Greene County School District through teaching, coaching, coordinating proms, the leaf raking projects, Interact Club, and helping students get hands-on work experiences through the high school M.O.C. program.
The Extraordinary Citizen award is a local award given by Home State Bank to a Greene County citizen or group who has gone above and beyond by giving their time and/or resources to benefit the community. The citizen(s) must be nominated by another Greene County resident. Winners get to select an organization to which the bank will donate $100 to in their name.
Green selected the high school Friendship Fund to receive the donation. The Friendship Fund helps needy students with some of the incidental expenses of participating in school activities.
County residents who would like too nominate a community member for a future award can pick up a form at the bank or visit online at hsbankiowa.com/award for an electronic submission.
